A director at Publix Super Markets Inc. recently increased his personal holdings in the Lakeland, Florida-based grocery chain, according to a regulatory disclosure filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Michael E. Graham, who serves on the Publix board of directors, purchased 1,017.8117 shares of the company’s common stock on March 20, 2026. The shares were acquired at a price of $19.65 each, bringing the total value of the transaction to roughly $20,000.
Following the purchase, Graham’s directly held stake in Publix rose to 1,217.8117 shares. The transaction was classified as an open-market purchase, and all reported shares are held directly by Graham rather than through any indirect ownership arrangement. The disclosure was signed on March 23, 2026, by Monica Allman under a power of attorney on behalf of Graham.
Publix Super Markets is one of the largest employee-owned companies in the United States, operating more than 1,300 supermarkets across the southeastern states. Unlike most major grocery retailers, Publix stock is not traded on a public exchange. Shares are instead available for purchase by current employees and board members, with the company setting the stock price on a quarterly basis.
Insider purchases by directors are often viewed by market observers as a signal of confidence in a company’s outlook, though such transactions can also reflect routine investment activity. Graham’s purchase, while modest in dollar terms, adds to his direct ownership position in the company.
The stock price of $19.65 per share reflects the valuation set by Publix for the current purchase period. The company has a long track record of steady share price appreciation, a key component of the employee ownership model that distinguishes it from competitors in the grocery sector.
