VanEck
VanEck is a privately held, family-owned global investment management firm headquartered in New York City. Founded in 1955 by John van Eck, the firm’s first strategy gave U.S. investors access to international equity markets, and in 1968 it launched one of the first U.S. gold funds by shifting much of its portfolio into gold-mining shares. The van Eck family has owned and run the business throughout its history.
Today led by Chief Executive Officer Jan van Eck, who joined the firm in 1991 and has served as CEO since 2010, VanEck offers exchange-traded funds, mutual funds, and separately managed accounts spanning equity, fixed income, commodities, and digital assets strategies. The firm serves individual and institutional investors from its New York headquarters and additional offices across Europe, Australia, Asia, and Latin America. Its investment adviser, Van Eck Associates Corporation, has served as an investment adviser since 1955 and reported approximately $237.36 billion under management as of June 30, 2026.
In October 2026, VanEck registered VanEck Private Growth Fund, a continuously offered, non-diversified closed-end tender offer fund giving qualified clients exposure to late-stage private companies in artificial intelligence, space, defense, and other growth-oriented sectors. The fund is managed by Christian Munafo, former chief investment officer of Liberty Street Advisors, with State Street serving as custodian and Ultimus Fund Solutions as transfer agent.
