About this policy
This policy explains what information SQX Alts collects from visitors to sqxalts.com and from subscribers to our newsletters, how we use it, and who we share it with.
This policy applies to sqxalts.com and to email newsletters and other communications sent by SQX Alts. It does not apply to sqx.com, which is governed by a separate privacy policy, or to any other website or service we may link to.

Information we collect
Information you provide to us
Newsletter subscription. Your email address; your name, company, or organization if you provide them; and your self-reported professional role or category (for example, investment adviser, sponsor, or service provider).
Inquiries and correspondence. Any information you include when you email us, call us, or complete a form on our site.
Events. Business contact information you share with us in person at industry conferences and events.
Information we collect automatically
When you visit sqxalts.com, we and our analytics providers automatically collect:
- Your IP address
- Your browser type, device type, and operating system
- The website or search that referred you to us
- Your website activity, and the date and time of your visit
When you receive an email from us, we may collect whether the message was opened and which links in it you clicked.
Information we receive from third parties
Organization identification. We use a third-party website visitor identification service to help us understand what kinds of firms read our coverage. This service returns business and organizational information. We do not receive the names of individual visitors from this service.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device that record information about your visit. We use:
- Essential and functional cookies, which are necessary for the site to work correctly.
- Analytics cookies, which help us understand how the site is used, including which articles are read, how long people spend with them, and which links are clicked.
- Third-party visitor identification technology, described above.
- Advertising and measurement technologies. We use tools provided by advertising platforms to measure the performance of our own marketing and to reach professional audiences who may be interested in our coverage. These tools may set cookies or similar identifiers and may share information about your visit with the platform that provides them.
Managing cookies. You can configure your browser to refuse some or all cookies, or to alert you when one is set. Some site features may not work correctly if you do.

- Decide what to cover, by understanding which topics and articles our readers engage with

- Include advertising and sponsored content from advertisers and Featured Partners in our newsletters
- Market our own publication and newsletters

How we share your information
Service providers
We share information with vendors who provide services to us, including hosting, email delivery, analytics, and visitor identification. Each is permitted to use the information only to provide those services to us.
Advertisers and Featured Partners
We provide advertisers and Featured Partners with reports on how their placements and sponsored content performed on sqxalts.com and in our newsletters. These reports contain:
- Aggregate metrics, such as impressions, clicks, page views, average time on page, newsletter sends, open rates, click rates, and how a piece performed relative to our other coverage; and
- Organization-level information, such as the names of firms whose networks our visitor identification service associated with visits to particular content.
These reports do not include the names, email addresses, job titles, or individual browsing histories of our readers.
Advertisers and Featured Partners do not receive your email address or other contact information, and do not receive information about your individual activity, as a result of advertising or sponsored content appearing in our newsletters.
We do not disclose individual reader identities to advertisers or Featured Partners without that reader’s express consent.
Other disclosures
We may disclose information where we are required to do so by law, subpoena, or other legal process; where necessary to protect our rights, safety, or property, or those of others; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case we will require the recipient to honor this policy or notify you of any material change.
We do not sell your personal information
We do not sell your personal information for money or other valuable consideration, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as that term is defined under applicable state privacy law. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
Email communications
Our newsletters may include advertising and sponsored content from advertisers and Featured Partners. These messages come from us, not from the partner.
Every marketing or newsletter email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all of these messages. You may also unsubscribe at any time by emailing privacy@sqx.com or writing to us at the postal address above, and we will honor the request promptly.
We may still send you non-marketing messages, such as a reply to an inquiry you sent us.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes described in this policy, after which we delete it or aggregate it so that it no longer identifies you. In deciding how long to keep information, we consider:
- How long we need it to publish and improve SQX Alts and to deliver the newsletters you have subscribed to
- How long we need it to maintain suppression lists, so that we can honor an unsubscribe request
- The retention period configured in our analytics platform, after which analytics data is deleted or aggregated
- Our ordinary business record-keeping needs, including correspondence
- Any period we are required to retain information under applicable law
How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards intended to protect the information in our custody, including access controls. No website, server, or method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information you transmit to us or that we store.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights with respect to your personal information. We honor these rights where applicable law provides them.
- The right to know or access. You may request confirmation of whether we process personal information about you, and copies of that information.
- The right to correction. You may request that we correct information you believe is inaccurate, or complete information you believe is incomplete.
- The right to deletion or erasure. You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
- The right to opt out. You may opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising. As described above, we do not engage in these practices.
- The right to restrict or object to processing. You may request that we restrict, or object to, certain processing of your personal information.
- The right to data portability. You may request that we transfer the information we have collected to another organization, or directly to you.
- The right to non-discrimination. We will not deny you our publication, charge you a different price, or provide you a different level of service because you exercised any of these rights.
Making a request. To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@sqx.com. We do not charge a fee for responding to a request. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law, and we may need to ask you for information to verify your identity or your relationship to the information you are asking about.
Authorized agents. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may ask the agent for proof of your written authorization and may ask you to verify your identity directly.
Appeals. If we deny your request and the law where you live provides a right to appeal, you may appeal by contacting privacy@sqx.com. Tell us that you are appealing and we will explain the process and respond as the law requires.
Children’s privacy
SQX Alts is a trade publication intended for investment professionals. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Links to other websites
Our site and newsletters contain links to other websites, including those of advertisers and Featured Partners. This policy applies only to SQX Alts, so if you click a link to another website you should read that site’s privacy policy.
Visitors outside the United States
SQX Alts is operated from the United States, and the information we collect is stored and processed in the United States. If you access our site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
Changes to this policy
SQX Alts keeps its privacy policy under regular review and places any updates on this web page. The date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
