Goldman Sachs Private Credit Corp. Moves to a Single CEO as David Miller Steps Back

The same week, Goldman split the fund’s president and operating-chief post in two, elevating a longtime underwriter across six of its private credit vehicles.

Goldman Sachs Private Credit Corp. will move to a single chief executive at the end of the year, with Co-Chief Executive Officer David Miller stepping away from the role while remaining inside Goldman’s private credit business.

Miller notified the non-traded business development company on August 3 of his intention to resign as co-CEO and co-principal executive officer, effective December 31, 2026. The company said the decision did not stem from any disagreement, and Miller will remain in the seat through the transition. Vivek Bantwal, the vehicle’s other co-CEO, becomes sole chief executive and sole principal executive officer on that date.

Miller stays on the investment side

Miller is not leaving the firm. Effective August 6 he became chairman of the GSAM Private Credit Direct Lending Team in the Americas, and he takes on an advisory director role at Goldman Sachs at year-end. He also keeps his seat on the Private Credit Investment Committee, which means underwriting judgment on the fund’s direct lending book stays in the same hands even as the executive title changes.

A split at the operating level

While the chief executive structure consolidates, the company’s operating leadership moves the other way. Justin Betzen was appointed co-President and co-Chief Operating Officer effective August 3. Tucker Greene, who had held the President and COO titles outright, becomes co-President and co-COO alongside him.

Betzen’s mandate reaches well beyond this fund. He was named co-President and co-COO of five additional Goldman private credit vehicles at the same time:

• Goldman Sachs BDC, Inc.
• Silver Capital Holdings LLC
• Goldman Sachs Private Middle Market Credit II LLC
• Phillip Street BDC LLC
• West Bay BDC LLC

That breadth points to a platform-level operating role rather than a fund-specific one, with a single officer spanning Goldman’s listed BDC, its non-traded flagship and its institutional private credit funds.

An underwriter’s path

Betzen arrives from the investment side rather than fund administration. He is currently a managing director and senior underwriter in GSAM Private Credit in the Americas, having first joined Goldman in 2006 as an associate, returned in 2013 as a vice president, and been named managing director in 2019. Between those two stints he worked at Newstone Capital Partners on second lien, mezzanine and minority equity investments; earlier he covered software, services and payments companies in JPMorgan Chase’s technology corporate banking group.

The company disclosed no family relationships tied to the appointment and no related-party transactions requiring disclosure.

The changes land as Goldman Sachs Private Credit Corp. continues to scale, having pushed its investment portfolio past $18 billion.
